Friends of Fort Hunt

We are excited to announce that the "Friends of Fort Hunt" Program is back for 2015!

Local Alexandria merchants are delighted with our Friends of Fort Hunt program!  Last year, several merchants particiapted in our reunion weekend festivities providing offers for discounts and other benefits for alumni of Fort Hunt High School.

We're thrilled that ALL of last year's merchants wish to particpate again this year while some additional merchants have signed on too!  Be sure to check out the newest offers below as well as the revived offers from 2014.

Please take advantage of these offerings to show our appreciation.  To participate, simply wear your "FH" button around town, visit our participating merchants and inquire about special offers during the reunion weekend!  Your support will help grow this program and forge new and continuing relationships between the FHHS Alumni Association and the greater Fort Hunt community.

Don't have an "FH" button yet?  Pick one up at Hollin Hall Automotive beginning Thursday, July 23rd, or get yours at Chadwicks or the Fish Market restaurants on Friday or Saturday evening!  Buttons will also be included with welcome packets for guests staying at the Hotel Monaco and the Holiday Inn.

Below are our participating merchants and what they are offering, (check back often for updates):

Mount Vernon is the most popular historic estate in America and is open 365 days a year. Since 1860, more than 85 million visitors have made George Washington’s Mount Vernon the most popular historic home in America. A privately-owned national treasure, Mount Vernon is maintained and operated by the Mount Vernon Ladies’ Association. Since purchasing the estate from the Washington family and assuming stewardship in 1858, the Association has embraced a heroic mission to preserve, protect, and maintain the estate for the American people, relying exclusively on private donations, admission fees, and restaurant and retail proceeds. Through robust education and outreach programs, the Association expands awareness about the exceptional life and character of George Washington, sustaining his legacy through research, interpretation, and public education. In experiences on the estate and through its digital outreach platforms, Mount Vernon strives to preserve George Washington’s place in history as “First in War, First in Peace, and First in the Hearts of His Countrymen.”

With its latest initiative, The Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington, Mount Vernon is affirming its status as the preeminent center of learning about George Washington, his life, character of leadership, and legacy. In addition to safeguarding original books and manuscripts, the Library serves as a center for leadership, where scholars, influencers, and other luminaries come together to talk about the past as well as the future, inspired by Washington’s extraordinary life, achievements, and character.

Admission fees, restaurant and retail proceeds, along with private donations, support the operation and restoration of Mount Vernon. Visit www.mountvernon.org for hours and admission rates.
