School Story:

Went to Princeton, 1970-1973, then worked at the Library of Congress until 1976. I started off in Anthropology, came to UT Austin to chase a PhD in 1976, switched to computing in 1979, and have been working in the industry since 1982. How often do you get back to Alexandria?

My Dad and my sister and her family still live in Fairfax County, so I come back at least every other year; sometimes more often than that.

Do you still see/talk to/hang out with any classmates? Who?

I still talk with Susan Byers, Bill Swiggard, and Phil Schwartz pretty regularly, and with anybody else I run into.

What would we be surprised to know about you?

I love to cook, and almost wound up in chef's school rather than graduate school. No matter what else happens in life, a person's got to eat!

What are your memories of high school (i.e. secret crush, embarrassing moment, funniest thing you did in high school, favorite high school hang out, favorite teachers)?

What a great faculty we had, and what a great batch of AP classes, especially Mrs. Adams' AP English. I really enjoyed senior year because it was so much fun to learn and grow.

Biggest thing you would do differently if you went back to your time at high school?

Worry less about the future, try to enjoy the current moment more.
