Patricia Glynn Jortberg Brogan

Spent decades in high Tech, with jobs at Apple, IBM, several start-ups, Yahoo!. Spent time learning and got 2 masters, a PhD and post-doc fellowship. I've taught graduate and undergrad classes. I am active and spent decades playing competitive tennis, running, cycling and love racing sail boats and climbing mountains. I'm off to Machu Picchu in two days, and in the past few years have been to Mt. Everest, Alaska, New Zealand, Africa to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro and many more places. I am most proud that my son and I have been in the top 10 mother-son tennis players in the US!

I took an aptitude test on languages and scored in the bottom 10% and my counselor suggested I not pursue any. At that point I was taking Spanish 3 and French 1 and decided to prove them wrong: so my senior year I took French 5, Spanish 5, Russian, Latin and Italian.
Because I skipped levels my grades were not the best and I got rejected to all10 colleges I applied to!
But I ended up going to Northwestern and would like to thumb my nose at people who measure people by data only!

I didn't do a lot socially at FH, but liked the outdoors. So I went with Explorer scouts hiking the Appalachian trail weekends. One weekend I came home to find my mom had the garden club over for dinner and int he center of the table was a flower arrangement with a blue ribbon for first prize--with roses and marijuana. I had grown a plant that grew to 7' tall in her rose garden. My dad, stationed at the Pentagon, was not a happy camper.
