I left the Alexandria area after graduation for Junior College in Ridgecrest, California. I transferred to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo after receiving my AA at Cerro Coso Community College from 1973-76. During my attendance at Cal Poly I worked at IBM in the San Jose area as a Co-Op employee. Returned to Cal Poly to finish my course work. I moved back to Ridgecrest after receiving my BS degree and started work with Computer Sciences Corporation as a computer network specialist. I met my wife, Kacey, while working at CSC. We just had our 38th wedding anniversary in December.
I worked as a project lead in Ultra-Wide-Band radar and Electronic attack projects following my work as a computer network specialist. This led to work in the Directed Energy RDT&E discipline. I served as a program analyst/manager with 6 years’ experience as Head of the RF and Materials S&T Branch at the Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division where I was responsible for leading research, development, test and evaluation of complex system engineering and integration initiatives in the areas of radio-frequency systems, advanced antenna systems, pulsed-power technologies, advanced sensor systems and directed energy applications. I retired in 2018.
I served as a director and secretary on the leadership board for the Directed Energy Professional Society (DEPS). I have been recognized with numerous letters of commendation and performance awards during my Government career and have received the Department of the Army Superior Civilian Service Achievement Medal, for excellence in advancing T&E of Directed Energy applications with USA CECOM. I served as the S&T Advisor for the Maritime Warfare Systems /Surface Strike Branch (OPNAV N764) and the Sea Strike Future Naval Capabilities Program Officer for the Office of Naval Research, Naval Expeditionary Warfare S&T Department, Weapons/Strike Technology (ONR 351). My government career includes over 32 years’ experience as an S&T professional with over 12 years in T&E of Directed Energy systems.
I became a Senior Directed Energy Scientist with AEgis Technologies, a Blue Halo company in the fall of 2018. My responsibilities include providing subject matter guidance on high power microwave (HPM) RDT&E instrumentation and new business development efforts.
