After teaching high school and middle school for 31 years, I retired in 2014. Jim and I love spending time with our kids and grandkids (VA, NC, & CA). I make and sell greeting cards at local shops north of Charlottesville. Jim recently retired from DOD, so we often take our kayaks and head to the mountains for camping getaways, or enjoy our family’s home at Wintergreen.

I have a lot of great memories that helped keep me going as a high school teacher!

Not enough even though it’s only a 2-hour drive.

Jim and I have 12 grandchildren (5 boys & 7 girls).

What are your memories of high school (i.e. secret crush, embarrassing moment, funniest thing you did in high school, favorite high school hang out, favorite teachers)?

Fun times at Drill Team practice! Hanging out with Allie Freeburg, and meeting friends in Olde Towne. Scheming with Debbie Starr ways to get out of geometry class. Dating John Doyle (MVHS). Being thankful for a great academic education at FHHS.
The two teachers who influenced me the most were/ are Madame Nelson and Don Jones. Madame, with her high academic expectations, and Mr. Jones, with his respect, patience and kindness towards everyone.

Dear Linda, I am so sorry for your loss. Wayne lived across the street from me in Stratford Landing. I will remember him as being genuine and sincere. I pray that you and your family are comforted with God's love, strength and peace.

That’s neat about your dad once living in Barboursville! We live on my husband’s family farm-it’s beautiful. And, probably not far from where your dad used to live as it’s a small town.

I will always remember Jeff as a great friend during our Fort Hunt years.  In 2015 he contacted me and we continued our friendship via texting as we reminisced about our high school days, and shared life’s ups and downs since then. Jeff’s beautiful smile continues to shine.
