Mr. Connolly was my all-time favorite teacher., including college and graduate school.
He and Mark Baker would swap funny puns throughout English class. When teaching vocabulary, Connolly would give examples: "Innuendo. Superman came innuendo".
I was in the first graduating class in 1965, transferring there from George Washington High. In my class I hung out with Susie Einbinder, Sandy Milosovic, Ted Walker, and whoever would push my red 1940 Ford coupe for a jump start. I also remember Tina Knudsen, Chris Renaud, Jon Wiseman, the Bidi twins and Mac McComas.
Years later I ran into Mr. Connolly at the the DC airport. He recognized me and said he had just seen Mark Baker. Years and years later I wrote a long letter of appreciation to Mr. C, but don't know of I had his correct address.
