Joseph "Joe" Patrick Wilson - Class Of 1976

Joseph Patrick Wilson - FHHS '76

 

Joseph Patrick Wilson died in Manassas, VA on November 5, 2014 from natural causes. He was 56 years old. Joe was born at Fort Campbell, KY on August 15, 1958 and was an adoption opportunity and was immediately adopted by his foster parents, Joseph and Patricia Wilson. At the ripe old age of seven days, he flew with his mother to Fort Benning, GA to join his new father. He made many more moves as a military family member to Monterey, CA, Norris, TN, ...Fort Campbell, KY, Fort Leavenworth, KS, Honolulu, HI, Montgomery, AL and to Alexandria, VA.

 

He was a physically gifted child who loved swimming, surfing, SCUBA diving, fishing and little league baseball (where he was a star pitcher). When his family departed Alexandria in 1978, Joe remained.


Joe was the president of JPW Decorating and served the Metropolitan DC area with his painting company for over 35 years. Joe was a dedicated golfer and participated in several charitable golf events every year. He was a member of Christ Church UMC located in Fairfax Station, VA and participated in regular church services, in small group ministry and outreach programs including Holiday food bank help and Military Ministry activities.


Joe is survived by his wife Marcia Wiggins of Manassas, VA his sons Joseph of Ladson, SC, and Robert of Alexandria, VA and two grandsons, Weston and Rylee. Also surviving are his father, Joseph C. Wilson of San Antonio, TX and Joe’s siblings, Steve of Barksdale AFB, LA, Jeff of San Antonio, TX, Scotti Hohensee of Houston, TX and Michele Packard of Southlake, TX and their spouses. He is also survived by his Aunt Elizabeth Smith of San Antonio, TX, his Aunt Ardath Kersta-Wilson of Indian Rocks Beach, FL and her five children. Joe was preceded in death by his mother Patricia Webb Wilson and his former wife Chris Mumford the mother of his two sons.

 

A memorial service will be held at the Pierce Funeral Home Chapel at 9609 Center Street in Manassas beginning at 10:00 AM on November 15, 2014. Jeff Cain (1975)

Joe, like the rest of us survived many an all nighter and moved on and be successful. I ran into Joe off and on but never stayed in touch.
