Found in the Mount Vernon Gazette "School Notes", Thursday, March 18, 2010:

"The West Potomac High School bands will perform their March Madness concert on Wednesday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the Springbank Auditorium. During the concert, a live auction is held in honor of the Christopher J. Cutting Memorial Scholarship Fund. This fund was established by Christopher Cutting's parents on Aug. 12, 1977 to commemorate Christopher’s love for band music. He died in a tragic accident July 31, 1977. He was a member of the Fort Hunt High School Band and served as drum major in 1976. This fund is a perpetual memorial to Christopher and provides financial support whereby other serious music students may have the opportunity to receive private instruction that is so critical to musical excellence." [emphasis added]

"Christopher Cutting died from injuries sustained in a car accident in Texas in the summer of the year after we graduated (1977). He was a freshman at Rice University at the time. Chris served as drum major of the Fort Hunt High School band in 1975-76, and was on the swim team. He played bass clarinet. He was a smart young man, charming, and a friend to all." ~ Lori Woehrle
