Obituary for David Fede

David Fede,69, of Manassas, VA, passed away at home on the morning of January 25th, 2022 after a 5 year battle with prostate cancer.

David was born on May 6th, 1952 to Frank and Helen Fede in Washington, DC, growing up in Alexandria, VA. After graduating from Fort Hunt High School in 1970, he went on to study Architecture at Virginia Tech. This launched his 40 year career in commercial architecture in the DC region. David was a "local" and when he moved it was around this region... downtown, Old Town Alexandria, Fairfax, and finally Manassas

In 1986, David met the love of his life, Teri Scanlon, and they wed in 1988, going on to have two children (Samantha and Michael). He was an involved and loving father and husband, and his family meant more to him than anything in the world.

David was a lifelong inventor and tinkerer. He could often be found in his garage or workshop, working on new projects and collecting materials for his next big idea or creation. He loved the outdoors, including canoeing, hiking, and camping with family and dogs Chelsea, Toffee, and Tessa. He also enjoyed listening to music, playing the guitar, going to the movies, or making his famous spaghetti and meatballs. David often vacationed with his family at the beach in Nags Head, North Carolina, staying in the house he designed with his father, Frank.

David will be dearly missed by all who knew him. His kindness and geniality touched all he encountered, from conversations with strangers to phone calls with valued long time friends and extended family. After his cancer diagnosis, his optimism and friendliness quickly made him the favorite of every doctor and caregiver he encountered.

David was predeceased by his parents and his sister, Marcy Egge. He is survived by his wife, Teri Fede; his sisters, Susan Schott, Honor Fede, Fran Gomez, and Courtney Preusse; his children and their spouses: Samantha Fede and Phillip Fansler; Michael Fede and Adrianna Atkinson; and his extended family including four sisters and brothers-in-law, ten nieces and nephews, one grand-niece, and a grand-cat, Orion.

David will be buried in his family plot at Pohick Church Cemetery on Monday, January 31st, 2022 at 1pm. A small graveside service will be held at that time. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to prostate cancer research on his behalf through his memorial page: https://join.pcf.org/memorials/memorial/in-memory-of-david-fede .
