Robert Lewis Chauncey - Class Of 1969

DECEASED ALUM:  ROBERT LEWIS "BOBBY" CHAUNCEY - FHHS '69

On July 6, 2013 at his home in Alexandria, VA. A lifelong resident of Alexandria, Bobby graduated Fort Hunt High School in 1969 and went to work for the U.S. Postal Service where he retired after 36 years of service. He primarily delivered for the Rose Hill and Hybla Valley post offices. Bobby was always serving the needs of others; whether he was delivering mail or serving his community as a Stephens Minister.

In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, fishing, and making people laugh with his stories. He was a gentle and kind hearted man who would offer the shirt off his back to a complete stranger and enjoyed a good meal followed by a good smoke. Bobby continued his kind nature by serving as the primary caregiver to his mother and step-father for the past eight years following his retirement. Anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Bobby always walked away with a smile.

He was recently preceded in death by his step-father, John K. Aitcheson. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Ann Aitcheson; father, Morgan Smith Chauncey and his wife, Janice; brothers, Thomas Smith Chauncey and James Edward Chauncey and his wife, Kelly; step-sister, Mary Elizabeth "Tipper" Gore; nieces, Jennifer, Krystal, Taylor and Courtney Chauncey.

Family and friends gathered on Thursday, July 11, 2013 from 11 to 1 p.m. at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 W. Braddock Rd., Alexandria, VA 22302. Flowers and a guest register may be found at
