i lost my oldest and dearest friend a year ago today. although life carries people in different directions, carol treasured her friendships and never let too much time pass without reaching out . . . karen shepp or candy cochran will tell you the same - its who she was.
and though carol lived in florida, she was always up for a road trip and a good time, so she loved getting back to virginia for the class reunions to reconnect and make plans with old friends. i was expecting to see her last aug, but covid took her in july. i know that she is missed by all who knew and loved her.
i often joked with carol that we were so different it was a mystery how we remained friends for over sixty years. after all she was sweet, patient and thoughtful - and i never heard her say a mean thing about anyone, even if she was hurt. and i was . . . well, me!
but i read somewhere that friendships fill the cracks left open by our personalities. i couldnt have had a better friend in my life.
Carol was indeed a kind and sweet person. During our Fort Hunt years, I never heard her say anything negative about anyone. It's nice she could make some of the reunions. I'm sure she is missed by many.
