I have known Mark D'Angelo since we were in Ft. Hunt High School as acting buddies. He was a brilliant actor even way back then and at a very young age worked with several well-known actors including Ned Beatty (at Arena Stage in D.C.) and Richard Boone (Have Gun Will Travel). We share almost 50 years of memories including making the move to NYC in the early 1970's to go to the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. We both were accepted in but I got a record deal on Paramount and went that direction instead. My band-mates were Walker Daniels and Laura Branigan, both graduates of AADA. Mark and I stayed in touch with each other through the years of many life changes. Over the last couple of decades he was in very poor health, taking daily strong pharmaceutical drugs, which finally lead to his passing. His ashes are buried at Alexandria National Cemetery. Mark was more like a brother to me than a friend and will be missed...another reminder how precious Life is and that we are all passing through this world. May we live in loving gratitude for each moment we are given.

Senior year he did a one-man skit that was called something like "Mr. Cox and Mr. Box." He did it in a British accent and in a somewhat manic style, and it was absolutely amazing. I'd had no idea he had those kind of acting chops.

Yes Gordon, Mark was a very good actor even early on.  The show you are referring to, BOX & COX, is a one-act British farce that has three characters.  Mark and I performed a scene from that play our senior year at FHHS as part of an evening of different scenes presented by several other people who were active in the drama program.  I have a few black and white photos of Mark and I doing BOX & COX, two of which can be seen (hopefully) by clicking on the link above.  He is one of my oldest friends and will be missed.

Sorry to have misremembered you right off the stage, Chris. What stuck in my mind was how aggressively Mark grabbed that role and owned it. Guess that became the organizing principle for the recollection, which over the decades transformed it into a one-man show with Mark playing both roles. Funny how the memory can work.

Unfortunately, the links aren't working for me. That would be a neat little piece of the past to catch a glimpse of, since I recall it as the best thing I ever saw high school kids do on a stage.
