John White - Class Of 1967

DECEASED ALUM:  JOHN WHITE - FHHS '67

In response to an email from Tom Harvey about the Class of '67's 50th Reunion, Tom received the following email on March 23rd, 2017:

"Hello - Wanted to inform you that John White passed away on 1/1/16 from a 3 year battle with prostate cancer.

                      - Catherine White

Tom responded with:

Catherine,

Please accept my sincerest condolences. I do not think that I had seen John since high school but remember him fondly. Tragically we have lost so many of our fellow classmates to this hideous disease and in my own family also.

Thank you for letting me know and I will share this sad news with our classmates also.

- Tom Harvey

...and the follow-up email from Catherine White on the same day:

Tom-

Thank you so much. John retired in Dec. 2012 from the U.S. State Dept. after 34 years of Government service. We moved to the town of Montross Va in the Northern Neck of VA in November 2013. For 3 years John enjoyed fishing, gardening and boating. He left behind his wife of 31 years, Catherine and 3 sons. Lee Roxbrough, Class of 67 continues to be a very dear friend.

                   - Cathy White

John was a wonderful friend during senior year at Fort Hunt.  We had a crazy camping trip on Fenwick Island, but, he and I and Bill (Mike) Ecker will forever be known as the 3 members of the 1967 senior class trip that got left behind in New York City.  We did the sightseeing bit, and wanted to go to a Broadway play.  Though it ran a little long, we never thought in a milion years that the Fort Hunt buses would leave without us.  They did, and we had to utilize the services of Western Union to get home.  John was a good person then, and I'm sure he was a loving husband and father.  My sincerest condolences to the family.
