I had the opportunity a couple of years ago to travel to Japan and stay with Miyako's husband, her son and her son's fiance in Tokyo.  I had a wonderful couple of days being escorted around to Mt. Fuji and on a grand tour of Tokyo.  I was able to share some stories about Miyako's stay with my family when she was an exchange student and attended FHHS.

Beyond FHHS, her life took her to Queen's College in Kingston, Ontario, Canada and then back to Japan.  She married and had her two children. She and her family moved to New Zealand where she taught school.  After returning to Japan, she continuted to teach.

My visit with her family was bittersweet and I am glad I was able to be there but I wish Miyako had been there as well.  She was the older sister that I never had.
