Chris Ann Haith (Hix) - Class Of 1972

DECEASED ALUM:  CHRIS ANN HAITH HIX, FHHS '72

Chris Ann (Haith) Hix, passed away unexpectedly (car accident) on Thursday, June 2, 2022, in Greene County, Georgia while enroute to Augusta to help with her mother’s post-surgical recovery. She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Haith. Mrs. Hix was born on December 13th, 1954, in Alexandria, Virginia as well as raised; graduated from the University of Virginia School of Nursing in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1978; married Daniel Hix in Alexandria on May 9, 1981. The couple began their married life in Richmond where they remained in the first home they purchased together.

She is also survived by her son, Ian Hix (Crystal) of Amelia and grandchildren, Chase, Maddy and Eli; mother, Marjorie Phillips and step-father, David Phillips; siblings, Michael Haith (Pat), Mimi Kozma (John), Melonie Haith and Jenn Conway (Jon). Many other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends have also shared in Chris’ loving life. Chris and Dan met in high school in Alexandria but came to love their adopted city of Richmond. Chris was loved and adored by many.

She was lovingly and closely dedicated to her family and friends. Her passion for helping others was felt and seen through her devotion to nursing, particularly to the infants and their families in the neonatal nursing unit at MCV/VCU hospital for nearly 40 years. Many of these relationships developed into enduring friendships as her commitment to care continued for her patients and family long after her their hospital stay. The adoration and compassion she had for her many close friends was only surpassed by the love for her family. She was always the one to reach out to others and her affectionate energy could not be ignored. Her selfless nature and infectious personality cannot be matched and will never be forgotten. It is impossible to describe how much she will be missed, but she will always be with us in our hearts and countless and tender memories.

A Celebration of Chris’ life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at Bliley’s – Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., Richmond, VA. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Children’s Hospital Foundation, ATTN: Child Life, PO Box 980693, Richmond, VA 23298 to support the infants in the neonatal intensive care unit that she so passionately cared for.

I am very sorry to hear that Chris passed away.  She and I both lived in Hollin Hall and we would get together after school.  I remember her fondly.

This is such sad news! My heart really hurts as Chris and I were enjoying a long overdue reconnect. We hung out some in HS and her parents socialized with mine at Woodlawn CC. We were looking forward to longer visits here in GA where her sister has a shop nearby. My heartfelt condolences to Marge, Dave, Mike, Jenny, Dan, Ian and the untold others that knew and loved this sweet soul.
