DECEASED ALUM:  JOHN CARLTON "JACK" ROXBROUGH - FHHS CLASS OF 1978

June 11, 1959 – February 21, 2023

John “Jack” Carlton Roxbrough entered peacefully into the Lord’s hands on the morning of February 21, 2023, after succumbing to a brief and sudden battle with prostate cancer. Born on June 11, 1959, in Lynchburg, VA, Jack and his family moved to the northern Virginia area two years later and settled in a house near Hollin Hall in Alexandria.

Jack graduated from Fort Hunt High School in 1978, and then endeavored for a bachelor’s degree majoring in History at the University of Richmond, which he completed in 1982. While at the University of Richmond, Jack was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.

After graduating, Jack moved back to the northern Virginia area, and began a career as an agricultural salesman, working for multiple companies selling various fertilizer agents to businesses and golf courses throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

He met the love of his life, Jane Schifflin, in March of 1995, and they soon married. They then raised three loving children in Annandale, VA: Scott, 26; Stephen, 24 and Kimberly, 22.

Jack enjoyed Capitals hockey, Redskins football, Nationals baseball, reading, history, politics, working out, and walking his dog Tippy. He was dearly beloved by all who knew him. Jack will be lovingly remembered for taking care of his family, and his lawn.

A memorial service for John will be held Saturday, March 11, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at St. James Church, 905 Park Ave, Falls Church, VA 22046. Reception immediately following at 1:30 PM
