Obituary
Robert A. Pierce
October 13, 1954 - August 24, 2024
Robert Allen (Bob) Pierce, age 69, of Fairfax Station, Virginia, passed away on Saturday,
August 24, 2024.
Bob was the loving and beloved husband of Marsha L. Pierce, the devoted father of Ryan
Allen Pierce & his wife Gretchen, and Daniel Lewis Pierce & his wife Sara. He was a doting
grandfather to Shepherd H. Pierce and Rosemary L. Pierce and was eagerly anticipating
the birth of his second granddaughter, Adele H. Pierce.
Bob was the devoted and loving son of Lewis Lee and Adele R. Pierce, and a loyal brother
of Louise P. Cornet, James L. Pierce (Pam Meier), Katheryn P. Messick (Walt), and Stephen
C. Pierce (Charlene). He was also a beloved uncle of Jennifer Conner, Jackie Bomar, David
Pierce, Jackson Messick, Austin Pierce, Melissa Bronson, Whitney McArthur (deceased),
Brandon Shepherd, Chris Graham, Lauren Wood, Nicole Zampiello, and Tiffany Sullivan.
Bob was born in Charleston, South Carolina on October 13, 1954, and lived briefly in
Morgantown, West Virginia before his family moved to Alexandria, Virginia where he was
raised. He always considered 13 to be his lucky number, and he liked to point out that his
13th birthday fell on Friday the 13th. He attended Hollin Hills Elementary, William Cullen
Bryant Junior High, and graduated from Fort Hunt High School in 1973. He then attended
The University of Texas at Austin for two years before completing his studies at The
University of Virginia where he received a B.S. in Commerce with concentrations in
Accounting and Finance.
Upon graduation, Bob started his career with Pierce Associates, Inc., a mechanical
construction company founded by his father. Bob worked as a Project Manager and later
served as Treasurer of the company and helped manage the company as a Senior
Executive. Bob worked on many notable projects including the Lister Hill Center for
Biomedical Communications at the National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland;
the Marriott Headquarters Building in Bethesda, Maryland; the White House
Communications Center in Washington, D.C.; and the Holocaust Memorial Museum in
Washington, D.C.
Bob had many interests, but his principal focus was always his wife of 43 years, Marsha,
their two sons Ryan and Daniel, and their beloved little dog, Dexter. In recent years, Bob
and Marsha showered their love and attention on Shep (7) and Rosie (4), whom they
simply adored. It should not go unmentioned that Bob loved a good cup of coffee while
reading his daily newspapers and watching the news.
Everyone who got to know Bob, realized he was a special person. He was genuinely
friendly and always considerate of everyone he encountered. Wise, kind, thoughtful,
generous and gentle, he was soft-spoken and always deferential, never seeking attention
or accolades for himself. Bob had an unbounded sense of humor and keen wit that often
drew the attention he was inclined to avoid due to his humble nature. Bob was admired
and dearly loved by so many people, and especially by his “dear” Marsha.
A celebration of Bob’s life
September 14th at 3 p.m. at Mountcastle Turch Funeral Home, 13318 Occoquan Rd. Woodbridge, VA,
22191. The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation in Bob’s
name to the ASPCA or to their favorite charity.

The Pierce Family lived one street away from my family in Westgrove. During elementary years (Hollin Hills), we ran the neighborhood together. Brother Jim is my contemporary, We were in Cub Scouts together. Bob was his "little" brother. Their mom, Adele, was one of my mom's good friends. Adele was so chill when I put a basketball through their plate glass window! (it's great that coming granddaughter will be named Adele!) Of course, we lost touch early on, but I would get feeder info through my mom and brother, Gary, as he would run into Jim Pierce occasionally in the neighborhood as Jim was involved in the business. A life well lived, Bob! May you rest in peace. My heartfelt condolences go out to the Pierce family, who have lost Bob too soon.
