Robert Michael Brittingham (September 30, 1955-October 7, 2017) passed away at his home in San Diego after a long illness. Rob is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Annette LaRoche and two stepchildren, Leann Lancaster of San Diego CA and Ian Lancaster of Los Angeles CA, as well as his brother Jim Brittingham and sister in law, Terry Brittingham of Annapolis MD. He leaves behind his many friends with whom he shared his love of handball and golf, travel, fine food and wine. He truly appreciated the outdoors. Traveling in his motorhome with Annette, he was always looking for a new adventure, exploring National Parks and the beautiful State Parks of California, happy to sit by a campfire, enjoying a glass of wine and looking at the stars. Rob will be remembered for his generosity and kindnesses as well has his quick wit and wry humor.

Robbie always made life interesting. That was his calling, I think. He was a bright light that would catch you when you least expected it. I'm truly glad that he found happiness and love. Peace, to Robbie and to his family.

We're saddened to hear the news about Rob. He was a friend of mine going back to elementary school and through high school. Although we went our separate ways as friends sometimes do, I'll always remember those great Robbie Brittingham stories and I still share them with our mutual friends. Robbie had a super-quick wit and I learned to listen closely to catch all the hilarious comments that he made - and duck when they were aimed at me. We'll miss you, Rob. Our condolences to the whole family and especially to his brother, Jim. From your friends at Fort Hunt High School, Alexandria, Va.

We know that he is with other classmates in heaven and shall always be in everyone's heart.
