Scott Adams Bistline - Class Of 1973

SCOTT ADAMS BISTLINE "Scotty"

Passed away on Thursday morning, March 27, 2014, in Alexandria, VA. Although Scotty was diagnosed with a serious illness, his passing at this time was sudden and unexpected. Born June 21, 1956, Scotty was a lifelong resident of Northern Virginia. He spent most of his life in the areas of Wellington and Hollin Hall and was a 1974 graduate of Fort Hunt High School.

Scotty was an accomplished guitar and bass player, very active on the local and regional music scene. Over the years Scotty was a member of many bands, including "Hole in the Wall", Studebaker Hawk", "The Casaloma Cowboys", "Third Shift", "Paradise Alley" and others. More often than not his exemplary bass lines laid a foundation for the soaring guitar artistry of his long-time stage comrade Brin "Doc" Reed. Of the many venues Scotty played over the years, his favorite was the legendary "Hunter's Lodge" on Lee Highway, lost to fire in 1986.

Scotty was a friend to many and will be missed. He was predeceased by his parents Jim and Lillian Bistline, his brother Jimmy, and his beloved Aunt Louise. He is survived by his brother Mark Bistline, sister-in-law Susan, nephew James and niece Daisy, all of Bristol, Rhode Island. Scotty is also survived by niece, Bennett Bistline of New York City, and leaves behind several cousins.

Visitation will be held at DEMAINE FUNERAL HOME, 520 S. Washington St., Alexandria, VA 22314, (703) 549-0074, on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will be held on Tuesday, April 1, in Newport, PA. A music-centered event to celebrate Scotty's life will be announced shortly, with the venue to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Scotty's name to "The Music Cancer Fund @ Sweet Relief, for artists battling cancer. Please donate by going to: sweetrelief.org

Scotty was way more than a friend. I cannot remember a bad time with him. From sitting on the bridge over the Parkway, hanging out at Hollin Hall, Jamming in BelleView, to recording his sets. Scotty & Brin played at my wedding. More than missed cannot cover it. "Make The Squirrels Go Away"  Save a spot fore me at the "Big Jam"!! I'll see you on the next shift Scotty!
