In Memory

Kathy Doris Ballard (Winters) - Class Of 1973

DECEASED ALUM;  KATHY BALLARD WINTERS, FHHS '73

On April 5th, 2018, my sister Kathy lost her battle with cancer and left our world to be with her sister Cindi. “ Though suffering, our bodies continue to share in the death of Jesus so that the life of Jesus may also be seen in our bodies”: 2 Corinthians 5:1

My PAL wrote this to me; “ hope He (God) has lots of butterflies and bees for us to chase”. You only get one PAL in a lifetime. His words of comfort took him and me to a time and place we knew. And my two little sisters not too far behind. “Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we OURSELVES have received from God.” 2 Corinthians 1:3-4.

My sisters followed us because I’m sure they knew they could nurse our scrapes and bruises and break the news to the whole neighborhood. And when we needed a warm body to play the game that “had to be played”, they were ready! But they always held the ace-card, the TRUTH. A very powerful tool.

But what we all loved most of all; was when we could just chase BUTTERFLIES and BEES 🐝 “Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we can not see” Hebrew 11:1 I am sure my sisters are chasing butterflies and bees, Love you and miss you, your Brother, family and friends

I am so sad and sorry to hear this. I didn’t know about Cindi either. Kathy was such a sweet person. My heart aches for your family. Bobbi

Kathy was a sweetheart and full of life. After a long and arduous series of treatments and surgeries, she promised to come see me at the reunion. She cracked me up and caused great embarrassment to her kids, Kathy did a pole dance on the Fort Hunt Cannon. Hugs to you, Sweetie.

I am so sad to hear this..  We used to have so much fun with the crew team.  Kathy was one of the nicest people I knew at Fort Hunt.  Condolences to the family.
