                          SANDIE CHASE MAGLIN CURTIS August 21, 1956 – June 29, 2022

Sandie Chase Curtis was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 21, 1956. She grew up in an army family living in many locations during her childhood including overseas in Germany. She received her BA in Sociology from UNC-Charlotte in 1979. She married Steve in 1979 and lived and worked in Atlanta, GA in a psychologist's office responsible for pre-employment testing for all Delta employees.

Her two children, Stephanie and Drew were born in Atlanta, GA. In 1990, the family moved to Clifton, VA. Sandie worked for a tax consultant until 2009 when Sandie and Steve moved to Santiago, Chile following Steve's work assignment. Sandie was very active in local charities while in South America including the International School for the Blind, volunteering several days a week working in the school, including taking the blind children skiing.

Sandie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004 while in VA and beat it. After returning from Chile and relocating back to Clifton in 2016, Sandie was again diagnosed with cancer requiring long-term treatment. Sandie lived her life to the fullest, never giving-in to the disease and never letting it define her. She was a puzzle master in her free time, and loved playing Canasta and Mahjong with her friends, but her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her three grandchildren. She was an inspiration to her husband, family and many friends.

Sandie is survived by her husband Steve; children Stephanie and Drew (wife Sarah); grandchildren Aubrey, Chase and Caleb; father Chase; brother Bill (wife Sue); sister Mary Grace (husband Mike).

A memorial service will be held July 16 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Clifton, VA. Interment will take place on July 23 at Hollywood Cemetery, Richmond, VA.
