David Kirk Fletcher
March 9, 1957 - September 13, 2023
David Kirk Fletcher 66, of Topeka KS, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. He was born March 9, 1957, in Honolulu Hawaii the son of Keith G. and Betty Lou (O’Neill) Fletcher.
David graduated from Fort Hunt High School in 1975. While in high school, David enjoyed playing on his high school football team and earned his Eagle Scout award. After high school, he went on to attend Old Dominion University where he studied engineering. David belonged to the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
He worked as a Mechanical Designer for F.M.C. in Lawrence KS for many years, and then for BIBB industries in Overland KS. David also owned his own business, Central Vac. His last job was in the cafeteria at Shawnee Heights High School where he was known as “Bubba”. Aside from work he enjoyed gardening, cooking, listening to music and watching sports. In his spare time, Dave’s creative side was expressed in designing house plans.
Survivors include his much-loved friend, Laraine Dulisse, two sons, Robert K. Fletcher (Fay Rawlings) and Daniel K. Fletcher. Two sisters, Cheryl Fletcher (Trevor Lazarus) and Deborah Bautz, his brother John “Jack” K. Fletcher (Christiana) and his granddaughter Amelia Fletcher. Amelia, daughter of Rob and Fay, shared a short but special relationship with David. In addition, he is survived by his nephews, Brandon Bautz (Greer), Ryan Bautz (Ava Yuen), Jonathan Fletcher, Tim Fletcher (Nick Baune) and Patrick Fletcher. David’s Kansas relatives include Agnes O’Neill of Topeka and many cousins.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Keith G and Betty Lou Fletcher of Winchester, KS.
Services are planned at Valley Falls Methodist Church on October 14 at 10:30 am. Inurnment at Valley Falls Cemetery following the service. Family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time. Light refreshments will be served in the church after burial.
