Katherine Alice Danaher Dies

Katherine Alice Danaher died on Nov. 16, 2010, following a brief illness. Her husband Dan and other devoted family members were by her side. Kate was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and grew up in Alexandria, where she graduated from Fort Hunt High School. She earned a master’s degree from U.C. Irvine in social sciences, and another master’s degree in history from Cal. State Fullerton. She was a professor of American History at both Palomar Community College and at Mira Costa Community College.

She was a hard working, goal-oriented, professional educator who was justifiably proud of all of her accomplishments. She possessed an incomparable will to live that inspired everyone who knew her or knew of her. She is preceded in death by her father Timothy and brothers Steve and Timothy.

Kate is survived by her loving husband Dan, step-son Jason (Brandy) Rodriguez, step-daughters Mandy and Tina Rodriguez of Garden Grove, Calif., step-son Andrew Rodriguez of Vista, Calif., step-granddaughters Gabby and Ava, her mother Margaret Danaher, sister Mary Sikes, and brother Pat Danaher (Lisa) of Coronado, Calif., sister Margaret Sikes (Steve) of Portland Ore., brother John Danaher (Traci) of Verona, Wisc, 10 nieces and nephews, and 16 grand-nieces and grand nephews.

The Celebration of Life was Sunday, Nov 28 at Twin Oaks House and Gardens in San Marcos, Calif.
