Roy James Koekelbeck - Class Of 1977

DECEASED ALUM:  ROY JAMES KOELKEBECK, FHHS '77

Roy James Koelkebeck, 62, of Goode, VA passed away January 1, 2021. He was born December 26, 1958 in Alexandria, VA to the late Quentin S. Koelkebeck and Betty A. Buxton Koelkebeck, where he lived most of his life. Roy was an accomplished musician, playing both guitar and piano. He also loved to sing and often performed in concerts. He attended George Mason University, where he majored in Social Work.

Roy used his education to help many in his community through volunteer organizations, such as the Suicide Hot Line. He is survived by sisters, Valerie K. Amato, Josephine A. Jones, Yvonne C. Neigh (Joseph), and Vivian M. Swartz (Kevin); brothers, Quentin F. Koelkebeck (Natasha) and Timothy A. Koelkebeck (Michele); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by nephew, Ryan Eugene Blair and niece, Lisa Anne Blair.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Roy’s caregivers, John and Kim Moisa. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Norris Funeral Services, Inc. & Crematory, Mt. Grew up with Roy on Swain drive he had a pond in the back yard.
