In Memory

Kathryn DeGroff (Hollett) - Class Of 1976

Kathryn Liell Hollett passed away peacefully on December 21, 2012 at Courtney Springs Village Hospice, surrounded by family and friends, after a long and brave battle with ovarian cancer.

Kathy was born on February 27, 1958 in Washington D.C. to the late Maurice and Nancy DeGroff.

She was a resident of Melbourne, and is survived by her husband of 34 years, Patrick and son, Patrick Jr (PJ).

Kathy and Pat's romance began at Union College in Barbourville, KY during a production of The Glass Menagerie, with Kathy playing Laura and Pat as Jim, the Gentleman Caller. They moved quite frequently while Pat was in the Navy and quite often afterwards, spending time in Orlando, Chicago, Virginia Beach, Haymarket and Chantilly Virginia, Rockledge and Suntree in Florida, and Guam.

Kathy worked most of her career in the banking industry, both on the teller line and in back- office operations, and most recently as a Certified Medical Assistant, graduating Phi Theda Kappa from BCC.

Kathy was a devoted gym rat and loved life on the beach. She was a certified spinning instructor for many years, and spent many weekends playing beach volleyball here in Cocoa Beach. She was an exquisite cook, expert crossword puzzle-solver, and a lifelong and diehard Redskins football fan.

In addition to her husband and son, she leaves loving memories to be cherished by her brother, Maurice DeGroff; her nieces, Lisa, Liell and Jenny; and nephew, Baine; along with many friends from over the years.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Mary (Micki) Leonard and Eric DeGroff.

Services will be held Saturday, December 29, 2012 from 2:00-4:00 at Beach Funeral Home, 4999 Wickham Road, Melbourne, FL 32940.

In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to the American Cancer Society .
