William Patrick Smithwick, 44, a Fairfax City resident who worked for various landscape design companies, died of liver failure March 17 (2005) at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax.
Mr. Smithwick was born in Belleville, Ill., and grew up in Alexandria. He graduated from Fort Hunt High School in 1979 and attended Radford University.
In addition to his landscape design work in the Fairfax area, he was caretaker of the Fairfax property where he lived.
Survivors include his twin brother, Robert Patrick Smithwick of Charlotte; and a sister, Susan Joan Smithwick Anthony of Richmond

Kay Wiemer (Gerke) (1974)
I am so sorry to read this. I didn't know Bill, but I knew his family. These folks have been through far too much pain, and to lose Bill at such a young age only adds one more travesty. The Smithwicks are good people. They are to be respected and loved. We should give them support in any way possible. God bless them.
