Leigh Breen Fitz

I'm now finding work assisting other non-profits and foundations, I very much enjoy working for myself from home, I'm dating a wonderful man, and my entire family is still healthy and well. My brother Michael is now in Santa Cruz so I see him much more often. My parents Bill and Susan have moved into a great house in Salinas, they say it's their 'last one' but you never know with those two.Kerry is in Woodstown, New Jersey - she has 2 little kids and 2 older ones.
I'm still in gorgeous Monterey, California running a nonprofit I created in 2012. Arms of Angels provides grief counseling at no charge to Monterey County families that have lost a loved one. We've been operational since 2012 and I have big plans for 2014-2015!
Every year we have a Benefit Concert that gets bigger and better each time, this year it's the Thursday after Father's Day, in honor of Madison's father, my beloved husband Clair "Skip" Fitz who passed away in March of 2006.

Went to Mason, along with other track girls, to form their first womens track team. Almost qualified for the Olympics during a meet my freshman year (in the 800 - Margaret Gross beat me, it was my best run ever). Loved Mason, interned at CNN my senior year. By that time I had married my first husband, a musician I met in Ocean City and married in Baltimore during my winter break. Moved to MD to live with him after graduation. After we split I went to York, PA, and got a good job in radio. Met my second-husband-to-be, got married at 30, had Madison at 32. Enjoyed a career in real estate (back when there were rules, 1990-2001), economic development and running my own shop. Moved back to CA in 2007 with my daughter to the area I where I went to my first 2 years of high school. She is now at UC Santa Barbara and I am running my own non-profit.

Been back infrequently over the last decade, was at 2 reunions. Love the DC area and like to visit there when I'm back East for other reasons. Hope to visit again in the fall of 2015.

No I'm too far away! Some are in CA but I haven't seen them - yet!! Apparently there are 302 Fort Hunt alumni in CA - perhaps we should stage a reunion HERE!

That I now live alone and work alone, but have many dear friends here who love me and tell me so - a LOT. I'm blessed that everyone in my immediate family is healthy and connected - they remain my greatest source of support. I think this has been true since childhood - as an Army "brat" the only thing you take with you when you go to that new place is your family. Makes for a tight connection - hopefully - until you can make friends in the new place. I love it here, feel totally at home, and don't plan to ever live elsewhere.

Fort Hunt was so different than my California high school, in a good way - many of my friends here did not graduate. Can't say I was a fan of the discipline at FHHS but I was more aware of the consequences of screwing up and frankly - why cut class if the beach is not involved somehow? So the change was good for me, as was my experience at Mason. I'm so glad for Facebook, it's a great way for me to stay connected to everyone back East as we all grow up and watch our kids do the same!
