ONLINE OBITUARY

Brenda was born on October 8, 1951 to Lee and Helen (Robertson) House in Fairbanks, Alaska. She passed away peacefully at home on March 9, 2014, going gently into the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was 62 years old.

During her childhood, Brenda moved 13 times with her military family. She moved another 12 times as an adult, living in California, Texas, Louisiana, Oregon, and finally settling in Mount Vernon, WA. She loved the beautiful Skagit Valley. Brenda graduated from Oregon State University in Corvallis in 1974 and moved to San Diego in 1978 to sell real estate. Working with her clients gave her great pleasure and she enjoyed living in the warm climate.

She met and married David Clemmons in 1986 and in 1987 celebrated the birth of her son, Robert (Bob) David House. He has been the joy of her life and a great comfort to her during her illness.

Brenda bred show dogs for 30 years. After working with Vizslas, Pugs, Min-Pins, Dachshunds, and Pomeranians, she settled on Chihuahuas. Her dogs were sold to buyers in Europe, Canada, Mexico, France, and throughout the United States. She was well known and respected for raising dogs of the very best quality.

She was a dependable volunteer at His Place Community Church for nine years and at the Mount Vernon Senior Center for four years. Brenda traveled to Jerusalem in 1994. Even before she was saved, she felt a strong spiritual difference while visiting the Holy Land in Israel. She faithfully attended His Place Community Church for 16 years, "a fountain of the Holy Spirit" as she referred to it. On July 28, 2005 at 2:32 p.m., she was saved and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. Brenda was baptized on May 18, 2008 at His Place Church by Pastors Bruce Wersen and Nick Harris. Brenda read and studied God's word on average of 5 hours a day after being saved. She delighted in getting to know the Lord and building her relationship with Him.

Brenda was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) in March 2013. She often said her illness was one of her biggest blessings because she earnestly looked forward to going home to be with her Lord and Savior and living in heaven. During her illness, she kept her sight on heaven and not on the end of her life on earth. She was full of God's grace and was always concerned for others.

Brenda is survived by her son, Bob, of Mount Vernon, WA; father, Lee and step-mother Midge of Medford, OR; sisters, Charlotte and Donna of Seattle; and Kelly Marie of Independence, OR.

She was predeceased by her mother, Helen.

The family deeply thanks Brenda's Hospice nurses and support staff, the ResCare HomeCare caregivers, Dial-A-Ride, and friends at His Place Community Church for their prayers and support.

Her memorial service will be held at His Place Community Church, 1480 Burlington Blvd., Burlington, WA on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 1:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to His Place Community Church.

Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Inc., Anacortes, WA and the San Juan Islands.
