Erle Oden "Andy" Sandlin - Class Of 1971

DECEASED ALUM: ERLE ODEN (ANDY) SANDLIN III - FHHS, 71

Andy Sandlin, FHHS Class of 1971, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2019, at the age of 66, after a brief illness.  The son of an career Army officer, Andy only attended his senior year at FHHS.  After graduation, he attended Clemson University and then transferred to Southwest Texas State University where he received a B.S. in Psychology.

Upon graduating, he became an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps as a helicopter commander.  Flying was his passion and after his career in the Marines, he went on to be an instructor pilot and flew commercial airline operations in Texas.  Fixed wing flying did not satisfy him, so or the remainder of his flying career he flew helicopters.  He piloted EMS operations for various medical groups, flew support to Guf Coast commercial tanker operations and for eleven years, flew for Fox News at their Cleveland, Ohio station.  He would help out the homeless, was a huge NASCAR fan and loved old cars.

Semper Fi, Andy.
