Laura Bach Weigele

JANUARY 5, 1955 – SEPTEMBER 30, 2021

Laura Jean Bach Weigele lived fully and loved strongly. Her short illness provided just enough time to say goodbye to her children before she passed on. Maya Angelou wrote, “People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.” In the days following her passing, the number of people who have reached out to Laura’s family to tell them how she made them feel truly seen and loved has been a great comfort to the family.

Laura was born January 5, 1955 and passed away on September 30, 2021 at the age of 66. Her last days were spent in North Carolina, just miles from the town of Apex, where she spent most of her life. She was surrounded by her sons until her last moments.

Laura is preceded in death by her parents, decorated Naval Captain Nicholas Robert Bach and Susan Onderdonk Bach. She was proud of her family’s military service and took every opportunity to support the armed forces her family sacrificed for.

She is also survived by her children, Jeffrey Theodore “Tedd” Weigele Jr. , Jonathan Ryan Weigele, Nicholas Gavin Weigele, Grayson Alexander Weigele and Christopher Logan Weigele and by her brother, Nicholas Robert “Chip” Bach Jr., as well as her cousins Gregg and Leslie.

Laura’s vibrant spirit and love for her friends and family extended to her land and animals as well; she truly found joy and inspiration in the world around her, and she found comfort and humor in the animals she was always surrounded by. Some of her closest companions at the end of her life were Goose, Itty Bitty, Peanut and Teeeeny Tiny, and she always remembered the other animals she loved throughout her life, including, Turk, Crosby Cat, Miss Kitty, Little Lady Sadie, Butchie, Star, Mouse and Ebony.

Laura’s service will be held on Saturday, October 23rd, 2021 at 1:00 pm in Apex, North Carolina. All who shared in Laura’s life who would like to honor and remember her with her family are welcome. For further service details, please text your name to 917-727-9745 .

In lieu of flowers, Laura’s children ask for donations to be made to the following organizations in her name: Alzheimer's Association, Miracles in Sight, American Cancer Society, Carolina Animal Rescue and Adoption or Transitions LifeCare.
