Wilma E. Ranck (Asst. Mgr. , Cafeteria)

WILMA ELIZABETH RANCK (Age 78)  

Of Alexandria, VA, died of cancer on Friday, April 11, 2014 at INOVA Mt Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, VA.
Born April 27, 1935 in Centralia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Catherine Guinther. She was predeceased by her husband of 43 years, John Robert Ranck Sr (1998) and her daughter June Marie Styler (2004). She is survived by three sons, Jay Arthur Ranck of Alexandria, VA, John Robert (Bob) Ranck of Vienna, VA, and Jeffrey Lee Ranck of Rota Spain, along with 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Wilma has been a very active member of St Luke's Episcopal Church since arriving in Alexandria 47 years ago. She worked for Fairfax County Public Schools for 23 years, retiring in 1992. She has also been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Martha Washington Chapter #42 for 25 years. Her most recent passions include volunteering with AARP and serving the American Legion Auxiliary Post 1976 of Annandale Va.

Educated in the Centralia Pennsylvania public school system, she graduated from Conyngham-Centralia Joint High School in 1953.

Wilma married John Ranck in 1955. They had four children before moving to Alexandria in 1967 where they raised their children and were very active in their community and the Masonic Lodge.

Memorial services will be held at St Luke's Episcopal Church, 8009 Fort Hunt Rd., Alexandria Va., 22308 at 1 p.m. on April 16 2014. For memorial contributions, the family requests either that Easter flowers be sent to St Luke's church, or donations can be made to American Legion Auxiliary Post 1976, 4206 Daniels Ave., Annandale, VA 22033, www.post1976.org.
