In Memory

Anthony (Tony) Rizzo

Anthony M. Rizzo, Jr. "Tony" quietly passed at his home in Orange County, Virginia on Monday, May 23, 2016.

He is survived by his daughter Linda Rizzo, son-in-law Joe Sweeney and grandchildren Alex Poulton and Jesse Sweeney.

Tony was a Marine and served during the Korean War. He attended Emory University and received his Master's in Education at American University. He started his teaching career in Colorado and then moved to Virginia where he was a teacher at Fort Hunt High School in Alexandria, Sub-School Principal at Hayfield Secondary School and then Principal at Edison High School.

Tony had a strong desire for teaching and learning. He was fluent in Spanish and loved to read. He was an active member of the Orange County History Society. He was an extraordinary man with a wit and sense of humor like no other. And contrary to the television ads, Tony was the most interesting man in the world.

A gathering for Tony will be held Thursday May 26, 2016 from 7-8pm at Johnson Funeral Home, 31440 Constitution Highway, Locust Grove, Virginia.
