Hello Christine. I read your wonderful comment about Donna Gigante, and like you, I was very sorry to hear of her death. I too remember Donna in the Li'l Abner Musical. She helped to give to make that musical the sparkling, fun loving production, as it was meant to be.

I am glad to hear that you chose the teaching profession as a career. In late 1979 I switched from teaching the Classroom Driver Education classes to teaching Mathematics. In 1984, I transferred to West Springfield High School where the remaining years of my teaching in Fairfax County were done. I retired from Fairfax County Schools and took a mathematics teaching position at The Madeira School in McLean, VA, I taught there for four years. I left Madeira and started teaching, on a part-time basis, GMAT Math classes at George Mason University. I did that for 12 years and now I am fully retired.

Correct me if I am wrong, but weren't in the Marching Band or Orchestra, or both at Fort Hunt High School. And, I do remember you being in the Class Council and helping in making the Class of 76' such a successful class.

Say hello to Nancy Bundren and Anne Hearth for me if you see them and tell them I have fond memories of you all.

I was sadden to hear of Donna Gigante’s untimely passing.  As  a teacher, former coach, and the Class of 76’ Faculty Advisor, I was honored to have the opportunity of coaching, teaching, and working with many, many wonderful, young people at Fort Hunt High School.   Donna was one such person.  I first met Donna when she was a student in my Classroom Driver’s Education class her Sophomore year.  I got to know her better, as a highly active participant in the Class Council of the Class of 76’.  The things I remember most about her was her ever smiling, bubbly, and uplifting personality, that she always brought into the classroom and to school every day.  She worked hard, and along with many other students in the Class Council, helped to make the Class of 76’ one of the most spirited and successful classes ever to attend Fort Hunt High School.  I feel that I am a better person, having known her.

I wish to offer my condolences to her friends and family, and I know her bright, happy personality will be greatly missed by ever so many people who knew her.  I know she will forever live in my memory.

May God Bless her and give peace and comfort to her family.
