Deborah Jane Sunbury, (age 63) of Alexandria, on February 24, 2015 passed away in INOVA Mt. Vernon Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. Daughter of Susan and the Late B. Ben Sunbury. She was born in Columbus, Ohio on January 31, 1952. Deborah Graduated from Fort Hunt High School and Shepherd College where she received a B.A. Degree in Physical Education.
Deborah had love for family, sports, the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Washington Redskins and animals; especially her beloved dog Savannah were the center of her life. She retired from Fairfax County after 24 years of service.
She leaves her mother Susan Sunbury of Alexandria, VA., sister Pam Sunbury Wood of Brunswick, GA. Hanai sister Linda Rigby of Venice, Florida and her son David Rigby of Jacksonville, Florida; 4 nephews, 1 niece, 2 great nieces, 4 great nephews and many loving cousins. A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 28, 2015 at Aldersgate United Methodist Curch, 1301 Collingwood Rd., Alexandria, VA at 1:00pm. Interment followed at Mt. Comfort Cemetery, Alexandria, VA. Demaine Funeral Home, 520 S. Washington St., Alexandria handled the arrangements.
