Tuesday, October 24, 2006

Ann Boning "Bones" Welton, 54, a former administrator in the Washington office of White & Case, a New York-based law firm, died Oct. 7 at Ruxton Health of Alexandria, a nursing home. She had multiple sclerosis.

Mrs. Welton worked at the law firm from 1985 until retiring on disability in 1992.

In earlier years, she worked in the area as a claims service representative for Group Hospitalization Inc., a health insurer; was a partner in small recruiting firms; and worked as account manager for Commercial Resources Inc., a recruiting business where she specialized in placements for law firms and the banking industry.

She then spent two years with the Mortgage Bankers Association as assistant director of human resources before joining White & Case.

Mrs. Welton was born in Omaha and moved around the country during her father's Air Force career, including a period in Alexandria. She attended the old Fort Hunt High School in Fairfax County and American University.

An Alexandria resident, she was a former president of a homeowners group at Mayflower Square condominiums. She also was known by many for her red Triumph TR6 sports car.

She often attended the Industrial Strength Theater in Herndon, and groups of which she was a member included the Commonwealth Republican Women's Club and multiple sclerosis support groups. She traveled to Europe several times for leisure during the course of her illness.

Survivors include her husband of 12 years, Courtenay S. Welton II of Alexandria; and a brother.
