JOHN MARK JANSEN (Age 62)
John Mark Jansen, 62, of Charlottesville, Virginia, died Monday, September 16, 2013 at his residence, of complications related to diabetes. He was born at Fort Belvoir, Virginia on May 14, 1951, the second of six children of Emily R. Jansen of Fort Belvoir and the late Joseph A. Jansen. Mark, as he was known to his family and friends, graduated from Fort Hunt High School, attended Georgetown University and Georgetown Law School. Most recently Mark worked as an independent consultant integrating his passion for people and travel whenever possible. He loved the Chesapeake Bay, sailing, and devoted his spare time to many philanthropic ventures. In addition to his mother, Mark is survived by four brothers, a sister, and a large, loving extended family. Friends and family are invited to a celebration of life service to be held Thursday, October 3, 2013, 5 p.m., at the Haven, 112 Market St., Charlottesville, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association , the Chesapeake Bay Foundation or the Haven (Charlottesville, VA).
