I knew Gary very well and considered him a dear friend.  We lost track of each other after high school but I have always remembered him as an extraordinarily talented and thoughtful person.  He loved the performing arts.  I remember that the school would not let him compete in the talent show his senior year just to give someone a chance to win...at least that is my memory.  He was a great soul..died way way too soon.  The world missed out on a lot fun by losing him so early in life.  Life, at best is unfair, got to just keep moving on.

Thank you Joe for sharing your memories of Gary.  He was a person who just exuded life and had so much personality.  He was fun to be with.  You are right, he died way too young.

Gary Hicks was the first young man to ask me out on a date in high school (it was my very first date ever); we went to a football game.  I had a really nice time with him. He was such a gentleman and so very understanding with a girl that was very ackward, shy, and certainly did not have any clue as how one was to dress for a football game.  I have never forgotten Gary for his kindness and though we never went out again on a 'date' he did invite me to go on a ride with his brothers in his oldest brother;s Red Mustang.  WOW it was scary, thrilling, and may well have contributed to my need for speed.  God please take Gary to heaven; he was so loving, giving and true.  I will never forget my memories of him.
