One Pearl Entertainment

Comments:

Since graduating from FHHS, I have lived in a number of places in the US, from New York City to Los Angeles, from Chicago to Fort Lauderdale because of a career in entertainment. I appeared on a "soap opera" on ABC-TV called "Ryan's Hope" for about three years as a recurring character, worked in theme parks such as Disneyland in California and Universal in Florida performing in shows and eventually becoming a show director. I am an independent producer and director and operate a theatrical entertainment company called One Pearl Entertainment. I produce and direct professional mainstream plays for a public theatre. I also write and direct plays and co-produce and direct shows for a theatre company for kids in Orlando. I wrote and directed two shows that appeared in the 2014 Orlando International Theatre Fringe Festival; "The British Invasion" and "Glory Days". The latter was about High School friendships. After three years of producing and directing Theater at the J in Maitland, FL, I have decided to "retire." I am currently writing a show.

I married my co-star in the show at Disneyland, Amanda Hudson, in 1992 and we have two great kids. My older daughter is 22 and my younger is 18.

How often do you get back to Alexandria?

Not often enough. My brother still lives in Old Town, but the rest of my family is in Florida. My folks have both passed.

What are your memories of high school (i.e. secret crush, embarrassing moment, funniest thing you did in high school, favorite high school hang out, favorite teachers)?

I was a drama freak so Mr. Gassek's Office was my hangout. He was also my favorite teacher. I also really enjoyed Mr. Dingle's and Mr. Levy's classes. Mr. Jon South, who taught physics, was also one of my favorite teachers and had the best sense of humor on earth. I still tell my kids about some of the stuff he said.

I spent many a day in Fort Hunt Park and Riverside Park. I have great memories of helping to convert Cedar Knoll, the retaurant that overlooked the Potomic near Vernon View Drive, into a Dinner Theatre and taking my Junior Prom date there.

I also used to hang out at the Mount Vernon Drive-In and Dockside. A number of us used to hang out in Bob Swiggard's family room in Waynewood.

Biggest thing you would do differently if you went back to your time at high school?

Slow down and savor each moment. They go by so very quickly.
