Harriet Singleton - Class Of 1971

DECEASED ALUM:  HARRIET SINGLETON, FHHS CLASS OF 1971

Born December 5, 1952    Died July 25, 2018

Message from Ned Masten, Harriet's nephew:  July 25, 2018

Friends and family,

Harriet passed away a few minutes ago after she had an unexpectedly bad reaction to the cancer treatments she was undergoing.  She passed peacefully, with no pain, and was surrounded by her family.  I will post funeral arrangement once we are able to set them up.  Please feel free to contact me at johnmasten@gmail.com.

Thank you,

Ned Masten

Rest in peace, Harriet.  We already miss you!   We'd like to note that after completing a Federal Government career, Harriet helped organize reunions for her class, FHHS '71, helped organize the larger All-Class Reunion Weekends and served as the Fort Hunt High School Alumni Association's Treasurer and Board Member from May of 2013 until 2017 when she moved to North Carolina.  We have sadly lost another member of OUR family.

To all Harriet's friends; Harriet's family will be holding some family-only events for her this week and then there is a planned memorial service for her that will take place in mid-October.  The family said that they will be updating Harriet's Facebook Page with current information, so please check there.  We will pass along any information that we have, as well.  Thank you.  We all miss Harriet.

Harriet and I had US History with Mr. Combs during our junior year.  She was the type of friend everybody should have:  always cheerful, warm, caring.  She was a natural extrovert.  As such, she had awesome leadership ability, which she obviously used in arranging reunions and engaging in community activities.  She will be sorely missed by all of us.
