More about Mike…

Michael E. Hasle, beloved son, brother, uncle, friend, neighbor, music and dog lover, passed away on January 6th, 2014 at age 54 in Alexandria Hospital.

Born in 1959 in Alexandria Virginia, Mike attended Fort Hunt Elementary, Stephen Foster Middle School, and graduated from Fort Hunt High School in 1978, where he played football for the Federals, and attended Ferrum College. He was gifted at building and fixing almost anything and put his talents to good use working as an HVAC technician for E.M. Logan & Sons for over thirty years.

Mike had a shy demeanor at first, but his smile was genuine, infectious and lit up a room. His customers requested him specifically because they knew he cared about them and that he would get things done, and done right. He was a steadfast and loyal friend, keeping many of his childhood friends throughout his life. He loved children and they loved him back. He never forgot birthdays and special occasions, sending cards and often hosting Mother's Day and Father's Day at his home. He made the best burger this side of the Mississippi, scrumptious seven-layer cookies at Christmastime, and loved cooking big family meals with his friend, Phil Merrick.

After family and friends, Mike counted his dogs among his best friends. He was an avid dog lover adopting several, notably Dexter, Jesse, Sebastian and occasionally Emily. He always kept a clean house, beautiful yard and enjoyed growing and planting flowers.

Music was Mike's greatest passion in life. He worked hard, lived hard and played hard. Music was often heard throughout the neighborhood, emanating from Mike's and Phil's house on many evenings, as his neighbors can attest. While he may have settled down slightly, he was always wild at heart.

The son of Ken and Pat Hasle, Mike is survived by his brothers Bo and Ken, his sister Babe, his nieces Megan and Hannah, his nephews Kellen and John, his sisters-in-law Audrey and Paula, his girlfriend of 7 years Whitney Childress, and many other relatives and friends.

Family will receive friends on Saturday, January 11th at 4:00pm at the Everly-Wheathley Funeral Home, located at 1500 W Braddock Road, Alexandria Virginia 22302. Services will be held at 5:30pm.

Interment will be Private and held at a later date.
