In Memory

Saundra Morine "Sanky" Webb - Class Of 1973

Sanky Webb (FHHS '73) was well-known to the students during the 1969 -1973 period at Fort Hunt High School.  Sanky was pretty and funny and went on to become the first black Miss Virginia.

I got this information from a conversation with Clyde Saunders (FHHS '73) last week - appropriately at the FHHS Memorial Garden at Carl Sandburg Middle School - one day before the dedication.

Sanky will be missed as a very memorable part of FHHS.

If anyone has additional information on Sanky or has recent photos to share, please add to this webpage or contact us through the website.

UPDATE:  I had lunch with Mike Allen, FHHS '74 on July 23, 2016 and Mike told me that Sanky passed in 2014 from an automobile accident.  She was in Georgia, rushing to the hospital to see her husband because he had a heart attack and was being treated.  Her husband survived, but Sanky didn't.  A sad story.  Mike spoke at Sanky's funeral as they were friends since childhood.  Thanks, Mike, for the update.

So sorry to learn of Sanky's passing.  We shared many laughs during our school years together.  I have thought of her often.  Condolences to her family.
