Patrick James Salke - Class Of 1973

DECEASED ALUM:  PATRICK JAMES SALKE, FHHS '73

Pat's younger brother, Mark Salke, reported today that his brother Pat Salke passed away at 62 years of age. Pat was dealing with progressive, degenerative back and spine issues since an autombile accident in 2000. In 2002, surgery to correct the problem was marginally successful in that it relieved chronic pain, but left him unable to work.  He passed away today.

Mark posted the following message on Facebook today (December 14th, 2017):

"Friends and family - Today my brother Pat died at the age of 62.  Too early, too young.  Our family is keeping him in thoughts and prayers tonight.  We hope you do the same and I ask that, in lieu of condolences here, please keep those you love close and do not wait to tell them you love them.  I will  post again when arrangements are made.  And thanks in advance for your thoughts and prayers for Pat."

Darn! Pat was always the life of the party!

I'm so sorry to read this news. Patrick was better friends with my brother and sister in high school -- I didn't really get to know him until afterwards, when I spent many fun hours going out for brunch, cocktails, dancing, and long walks around Georgetown and Dumbarton Oaks with him and Bob. I feel sad that we fell out of touch over the years, and very sad that he had to leave this world so early. My condolences to all of the Salkes.

So sorry to hear of Pat's passing. We were neighbors and friends in our younger days.  He was in my brother Doug's class, who passed in 2016. Too young for sure.

My condolences and thoughts for his family and loved ones. Peace be with you all.
