Charles passed from cancer in December 1996. He was living in Virginia, Minnesota at the time of his death. He left his wife Teri and six children, his mother and sister. His mom passed November, 2011.

Charlie did not die from a drug overdose but from cancer. The congressman referenced was not Charlie's father
