Suzanne Solem (Wildenradt) - Class Of 1976

Suzanne Solem Wildenradt

Passed away at home on July 8, 2012. The daughter of Charles and Marcia Solem, Suzanne was born in Alexandria, Virginia on March 2, 1958. Suzanne attended St. Olaf College before transferring to the University of Puget-Sound. She moved to the Bay Area after graduating with a B.S. in Biology to work on the development of a chicken pox vaccine in the research laboratories of Stanford University. Suzanne married Carl Wildenradt in 1990, enrolling that same year at the UCSF School of Pharmacy. She graduated with honors after a four-year course of advanced study and was awarded a degree as a Doctor of Pharmacology. During her last semester at UCSF Suzanne gave birth to her first daughter, Natalie, while interning at the Poison Control Center in San Francisco. After receiving her degree she began work at the center full-time, where she handled emergency calls to the Poison Control Hot-Line. Suzanne decided to become a stay-at-home mom and devote herself to her family full-time after the birth of her second daughter, Annika. Suzanne was a patient, caring, and loving mother, performing countless readings of Good Night Moon, overseeing trips to the zoo, volunteering her time as a Sunday School teacher and Room Parent, and accompanying her daughters to three-day volleyball tournaments in faraway places. Suzanne touched everyone in her life with her kindness, intelligence, and enthusiasm. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Suzanne was a dear childhood friend of mine.  She was always such a sweet soul, always happy and beautiful inside and out!  So loved and so missed by all that were lucky enough to have known her.  xoxoxo

Suzanne was my closest friend, both at Fort Hunt and later in life.  She was a gentle soul, who saw the best in everyone. I always enjoyed hearing of her travels to other countries, and I feel blessed to have been able to visit her in Minnesota and California, and was honored to be part of her wedding. We spent many weekends in Ocean City, enjoying the beach, or at home, working at different restaurants. She encouraged me to take up skiing, and to challenge myself, her enthusiasm was uplifting. I miss her.
