Margaret Ann Haywood (Teague) - Class Of 1968

Margaret A. Teague, 58, a Fairfax County teacher for 15 years and a legal assistant for the past seven years, died Feb. 16 at her home in Fairfax Station. She was shot during a domestic altercation, and the incident remains under criminal investigation, county police said.

Mrs. Teague taught elementary school, mostly at Hunt Valley in Springfield, from 1972 to 1987. After she had her first child, she became a full-time mother and homemaker as well as a second mother to her nephews, Chris and Matt Wochok.

In 2002, Mrs. Teague began working outside the home again as a legal assistant at the William Artz law firm in Arlington County, where she was employed at the time of her death.

She was born Margaret Ann Haywood in Savannah, Ga. The daughter of an Air Force officer, she grew up in northern Africa, California, New Mexico and Virginia, where she graduated from Alexandria's Fort Hunt High School. She graduated from Virginia Tech in 1972.

She married an Air Force officer and accompanied him on his assignments until they settled permanently in Fairfax. She received a master's degree in education in 1983 from George Mason University.

Survivors include her husband of 37 years, Donald Edward Teague Jr., and three children, Michael Teague, Kevin Teague and Katie Teague, all of Fairfax Station; her parents, Floyd and Lorene Haywood of Fairfax Station; and her twin sister, Elizabeth ["Eli"] Wochok of Fairfax Station.
